That precocious little white mouse from the classic book by E.B.
White can be found not only in his eponymous 1999 film debut but also on
your PC in the Stuart Little: Big City Adventure CD-ROM Game. Kids --
and adults -- of all ages can guide Stuart Little through a series of
five games, each with three levels of difficulty.
There are two ways to get into the action: Story Mode and Free Play.
In the former, Snowbell the cat narrates Stuart's story as you make your
way through the games in order; once you've completed all of them,
you'll be rewarded with a final animation. In Free Play you can play
them in any order you wish.
The first game is the Regatta Race. Guide Stuart on his boat The Wasp
in a race on the pond; try to avoid obstacles such as buoys, rocks,
soda cans and frogs as you try to get to the finish line before your
time runs out.
Next up is the Park Challenge. Stuart's on the run from some street
cats and needs your help to make it through Central Park. You must steer
his car and avoid the acorns, snails and rocks that clutter the path
while trying to grab flashlights to scare away the cats. You also have
to grab batteries to replenish your power supply or the car will come to
a stop and Stuart will become lunch.
In Big Mini-Golf, Stuart has stumbled across a miniature golf course.
There are three holes to play: the castle, the pyramid and the
windmill.
Complete them and it's off on the Electric Train Adventure. Stuart is
riding an electric train and needs your help to avoid blockades and
switch the tracks so that he can grab the flags. Spinning toy rockets
will boost the train's speed for a few seconds and landslides, fallen
trees and other vehicles will appear on the tracks every so often.
Finally, Stuart needs to make it through the pantry and escape the
clutches of Monty the cat. He needs to run across the dishwasher, past
the pantry drawers and through the sink and use various household items
to help him do so. If he gets out the window safely he's made it through
the final game.
