Robert E. Lee: Civil War General
In Robert E. Lee: Civil War General, you take the role of General Lee and issue commands to your army factions of infantry, cavalry, artillery and specialists as you attempt to lead the Army of Northern Virginia in individual battles or through a complete campaign, historically based on the American Civil War battles in which General Lee took part. Even though Lee was not present during the First Battle of Bull Run, the designers included this significant battle because of it's importance. Seven other scenarios (battles) are included, six of which are factual and involved Lee: Second Battle of Bull Run (Manassas) (1861), Antietam and Fredericksburg (1862), Chancellorsville and Gettysburg (1863) and The Wilderness (1864). A final fictional "what if" battle takes place with the Confederate forces trying to dislodge the Union Army from Washington, D.C.Robert E. Lee: Civil War General contains multiplayer options (modem or serial link), professional voice acting and detailed historical models regarding unit and army strengths, leadership qualities, terrain (13 types) and morale. An option is available to play any single battle as either the Union or Confederate side but the campaign game can only be tackled from the Southern perspective. The interface is turn-based, point and click, menu- and icon-driven with alternative keyboard commands accessible and the battles play out on historically based hex-drawn maps with pop-up detailed troop information available.Computer game designers have been trying to build the perfect civil war combat simulation for years and this Impressions title is one more result of that effort. This one is somewhat unique in that it deals with a series of battles involving a particular historical figure (General Robert E. Lee) with emphasis on the Southern faction (the Confederacy).

Civil War Generals 2: Grant - Lee - Sherman
Impression's sequel to Robert E. Lee: Civil War General expands coverage of the American Civil War to include over forty battle senarios (historical and "what ifs"). The game also provides an option to play as either the union or confederate forces (in the first game you could only play as the Southern forces in the campaign game).Civil War Generals 2: Grant - Lee - Sherman features options to control the action from command to unit levels, in overhead view or with a zoom-in function that takes you to battlefield perspective. You can recreate (or re-write) historic battles or play a full campaign game where both casualties and experience carry over to the next battle.Civil War Generals 2: Grant - Lee - Sherman contains five multi-player options including "hot seat," modem, serial cable, LAN or Internet. Another enhanced feature of the game is the inclusion of a scenario editor that allows you considerable latitude to alter existing battlefields or create new ones based on real Civil War maps or your imagination. In addition to the huge increase in battle scenarios, Civil War Generals 2: Grant - Lee - Sherman introduces new unit types (Mortars, Horse and Heavy Artillery, Gunboats, Frigates, Engineers) and new terrain types (Forts, Walls, Swamps, Water, Major Roads, Coastline) to augment those from the first game of the series.A continuation of the computer gaming industry's love affair with the American Civil War. Talonsoft's Battleground Series, Empire's The Civil War and The Civil War Masters Edition, Sid Meier's Gettysburg! and a host of other similar titles attempt to capture the look and feel of the great conflict in US history.

Edward Grabowski's: The Blue and the Gray
Have you ever wanted to relive some of the classic, historical moments from the Civil War? Well, you can with Edward Grabowski's: The Blue and the Gray from Impressions. This is a 2D turn-based strategy game with real-time combat for Windows 95.Get ready to enter the classic battles and legendary encounters that happened at Gettysburg, Fredericksburg and Washington. Move battalions around large battle terrain and control them in their positioning, attack strategies and formation. Once you have made moves to initiate a battle, the action will commence.Set up your soldiers in the proper formations, designate waypoints and then press "play." Now the encounter will begin and your soldiers move into their positions and open fire on the enemy. The battles force you to use strategy and have quick hands if you want to succeed. There are many different weapons and infantry units you control as well. Light gunners, cannons and cavalry can all be sent up to the front lines or used as reinforcements.Historic battles can be viewed to give a better understanding of the time period and the intensity of the war. If you need to be educated on a certain battle, strategic approach or some other aspect of the war, this option provides the opportunity. The game features music from the Civil War * Give your commands and then watch from above as the battle plays out on your screen
* Use the maps to plan strategies, recruit troops, and keep track of victories and losses
* Lead the Northern or Southern armies through several battles based on historic eventsThe game gives you the chance to rewrite history, by choosing the course that the war will take. The computer uses historical records to determine the re-cruitment of forces and availability of weapons over time, so that both sides have approximately the same "raw material" they did in the Civil War.The game is grid-based with unit markers that can be "stacked" in a mode very similar to boardgames and earlier released computer games depicting the Civil War and other military actions.
