Authentic vintage Bacardi Rum Company letter dated December 19, 1956, issued by Compañía “Ron Bacardi,” S.A. in Santiago de Cuba.
This remarkable historical letter was addressed to celebrated Cuban singer Merceditas Valdés, identified directly in the letter as “La Reina de la Música Afrocubana” (The Queen of Afro-Cuban Music).
The letter praises Valdés for her talent, cultural importance, and distinguished musical career. It references her roots in Cayo Hueso, Havana, her interpretations of Cuban musical traditions, and several genres including rezos, cantos de cuna, pregones, tangos, and sones afros.
The letter also specifically mentions “La Pequeña Aché” and concludes by wishing Merceditas Valdés a prosperous New Year and a hopeful 1957.
A particularly desirable feature of this historical document is the signature of José Bosch, identified on the letter as Director General of Compañía “Ron Bacardi,” S.A.
