1989 NASA MSFC FATHER OF THE ALS ENGINES (DESIGNER) PROPULSION -RETIREMENT AWARD For Sale

Thank you for looking,This recent find comes from Estate of Retired NASA MSFC Aerospace Engineer that was part of ABMA and NASA working with Wernher von Braun on the pioneering Rocket Team. Mr. Thomson was ultimately responsible for the development of the H1, J2 and F1 Saturn Rocket Engines and eventually put in charge of the Shuttle "SSME" development in 1968-69 and from 1971-86 he served as Chief Engineer for the Space Shuttle Main Engine the RS-25. Just prior to his retirement he served as the Manager of the Advanced Propulsion Systems Office where post Challenger Accident he helped oversee and design engines for this program. This listing is for a 1989 NASA MSFC ALS RETIREMENT AWARD Presented to him by the ALS JPO with a handwritten note to him by BRIGADIER GENERAL (Director of Command Control) Jack Wormington. Award features an engraved plate with details including "THE FATHER OF THE ALS ENGINES" along with a collage of 3 ALS CONCEPT images. Award measures approximately 16 x 20 (with frame 16.5 x 20.5). Award is in Very Goodcondition with some expected age and storage wear (see small spotting in pictures 13 and 14).
