ANTIQUE BLACKSMITH HAND FORGED DENGLESTOCK SCYTHE BLADE SHARPENING ANVIL
Used for peening European scythes. Often brought over and used by the Pennsylvania Dutch. It was driven into a stump and was used with a hammer to sharpen/peen the scythe. These were first brought over by the Dutch and Germans early, possibly before our independence. Then the Pennsylvania Dutch started to make them. From what I have read they most likely were not made much by hand after around 1880.
