Very rare cased set of straight razors “Made for the Army” by John Heiffor of Sheffield England.
Both of the razors have the “Made for the Army” stamp on the back. And both are stamped “*I.H* John Heiffor 3 paradise square Sheffield”
The case also has wonderful graphic and is matching, being stamped for John Heiffor. It is amazing that both razors have stayed with their original case this long!! I would date this set to the 1840-60s.
Both razors have horn scales in good condition and are solid. No bug bites or cracks. One razor shows more use than the other, but both are in pretty good condition! They are both wedge ground.
The box snaps and stays closed. It has numerous scuffs and both ends are missing the wood.
Closed length: 6-3/16”
Blade from tip to tail 5-3/8”
