Antique Dutch Speculaas Cookie Mold – Hand Carved Wooden Springerle Folk Art

Wonderful antique hand-carved wooden cookie mold featuring a detailed standing figure in traditional European dress. The relief is carved directly into a solid wooden board and has a beautiful dark, aged patina.

This type of hand-carved wooden mold is associated with the Dutch and Belgian tradition of making speculaas (spiced gingerbread) and is also commonly described as a Springerle-style cookie mold. Similar antique Dutch speculaas boards were carved with figures, people and other detailed motifs and were sometimes displayed as folk art when not being used.

The front features the raised figure and carved lettering/marking on the base. The back is plain wood with a small natural opening/knot.

Approx. 10 1/2\" tall x 4 1/4\" wide.

Beautiful primitive European folk-art piece with wonderful age, character and craftsmanship. Would make an excellent addition to a collection of antique cookie molds, Dutch folk art, primitive kitchen collectibles or European country decor.

Condition is consistent with age and previous use, including surface wear, discoloration, small imperfections and aged patina. Please examine all photographs carefully.
