Antique 1920s Family Portrait Gt Yarmouth - Social History Interest RPPC For Sale

This portrait is a significant piece of social history, particularly regarding the visibility of individuals with Down syndrome in the early 20th century. During the 1920s, it was unfortunately common for children with developmental disabilities to be kept out of formal family records or institutionalized.

The inclusion of the younger daughter in this high-quality, professional studio portrait reflects a family’s pride and affection. It serves as a rare and touching testament to domestic life and inclusivity during the interwar period. The studio, Nobbs of Great Yarmouth, was a well-known establishment on Regent Road, a popular area for holidaymakers and locals alike to capture formal memories.
