Carte de visite portrait of three men, taken at the Lamoreux & Leas studio in Peru, Indiana, \"Over Kilgore & Shirk\'s, Opp. Court House.\" One older man stands centered wearing a wide brim hat, mustache, and suspenders over a striped shirt; two younger men are seated in front of him, both in dark hats, one in a jacket and tie, the other in a plain buttoned shirt. Studio identification and address are printed below the oval image on grey embossed cardstock with red rule border and scrollwork corner ornaments. Note the studio\'s own printed text reads \"CHAMPION ARTSITS\" rather than \"ARTISTS,\" a printer\'s error on the original card stock rather than any later alteration. Mat is loose over the photo within its window, not affixed.
A Maurice L. Lamoreux is recorded as a photographer in Peru, Indiana, matching this card\'s imprint [likely]. [Guessing] Based on the mustache, hat styles, and studio card design, this dates to roughly the 1870s to 1880s; CDV format itself was in decline by the mid-1880s in favor of cabinet cards, so a date past that range would be unusual for this format.
Card measures 2 3/8 x 3 3/4 in. (6.0 x 9.5 cm). Sitters unidentified.
