***JUST REDUCED FOR FAST SALE FROM 1500 TO 800******PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION ON CONDITION******THIS BELL HOUSING IS OVER 100 YEARS OLD. BEEN IN OLD BARN FOR DECADES******RUST AND STUFF FROM USE AND AGE. AS FOUND.Up for sale is a really rare piece of old railroad history. This is a heavy cast iron dome cap made by the Hoeschen Manufacturing Company out of Omaha, Nebraska. It dates back to somewhere between 1910 and 1920.Where it came from: This was recently found tucked away in an old barn here in the Western North Carolina mountains. It has been sitting untouched for decades and has great character. The Hoeschen company made a special mechanical, "batteryless" railroad crossing signal back then. These heavy domes sat on top of the signal post to keep rain and snow out of the internal gears. Because the company went out of business around 1920, these parts are incredibly hard to find today.

• Markings: Has clear raised lettering on top that says: "HOESCHEN MFG CO OMAHA NEB USA" and the part number "803".
• Size: Measures about 13 inches across the bottom and is 9 inches tall.
• Weight: Solid, heavy cast iron. Weighs right around 25 pounds.
• Condition: Great old shape. It has the 3 original bolt holes on top and the bell-shaped lip at the bottom to shed water. It still has the old green industrial paint on the outside and natural surface rust on the inside and outside with a small hole starting to show on the surface. I have not cleaned or scrubbed it at all—leaving it exactly as found so it keeps its antique value.
• Shipping: I will custom-box this very securely using heavy-duty boxes and lots of crushed packing paper so it arrives 100% safe to your door.
• See our great response. International buyers must use international shipping. No exceptions please.

This is a fantastic conversation piece, a heavy-duty doorstop, or a great missing part if you are a serious railroad collector.
