Antique Lorenz’s Beef Wine and Iron medicinal bottle, dating to approximately 1913–1921, manufactured for Otto J. Lorenz, Prescription Druggist, at 3962 Broadway, corner of Irving Park Boulevard, Chicago.This is an especially attractive surviving example of an early 20th-century pharmacy-compounded medicinal preparation, retaining its large and highly graphic original paper label. The label features a detailed bull’s head surrounded by grapevines and bottles, with prominent “BEEF / WINE AND IRON” advertising.The label describes the preparation as a restorative and “blood maker” intended for exhaustion, loss of blood and debility, and specifies an 18% alcohol content. Dosage instructions are also printed on the label.Dating: Research strongly supports a circa 1913–1921 date for this example. The label identifies Lorenz's address as 3962 Broadway.
