Upgrade your classic Bally or Stern solid-state pinball machine with a modern 6-digit LED replacement display.

The Logic Level Electronics Rev 1.4 display is designed as a direct replacement for the original Bally AS-2518-21 / AS-2518-15 and compatible Stern 6-digit display assemblies. It provides a crisp LED readout while operating from the machine's low-voltage supply. The replacement display itself does not require the original high-voltage supply used by plasma displays.

Each board is assembled and function-tested before shipment.

Rev 1.4 Features & Improvements

• Factory-Style Connector Orientation: Rev 1.4 uses the same physical connector orientation as the original display, allowing the factory harness to connect in its original Logic: The primary logic circuitry uses surface-mount components soldered directly to the PCB, eliminating IC sockets and their additional mechanical and electrical contact points.

• Expanded Diagnostic Test Points: Dedicated test pads provide convenient access to the major display signals for troubleshooting with a multimeter, logic probe, or oscilloscope:

  • BCD1, BCD2, BCD3, BCD4

  • LD (Load)

  • BL (Blanking)

  • Segments A through G

  The ground test point is positioned near the edge of the PCB for convenient connection of a meter or oscilloscope ground clip.

• Documented Pin Connections: Connector and signal functions are identified on the PCB, and a complete pinout reference diagram is provided for troubleshooting and service. On Rev 1.4, part of the main connector legend is partially obscured by the installed connector, so the supplied diagram provides a clear reference for each connection.

• Black LED Light Shrouds: Custom black shrouds surround the LED digits to reduce unwanted light bleed and help produce a clean, defined appearance behind the backglass.

• Reinforced Header Pads: The primary connector pins use enlarged solder pads to provide additional mechanical support at the harness connection points.

• Replaceable LED Digit Modules: Individual LED digit modules can be replaced if necessary, allowing a failed digit to be serviced without replacing the entire display board.

• Plug-and-Play Installation: Designed to work with the existing Bally/Stern MPU signals and factory wiring harness. No additional power supply or machine modifications are required when installed in a compatible, factory-configured machine.

Always turn off and unplug the machine before installing or removing a display.

Rev 1.4 uses the factory-style connector orientation. Before applying power, verify that the connector is properly aligned and fully seated.

A connector pinout and diagnostic reference diagram is provided for installation, service, and troubleshooting.
