BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception, 1988, Big Box, New & Sealed:
$299.95

Developed by Westwood Associates and published by Infocom in 1988, BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception is a science-fiction role-playing and tactical combat game set during the Succession Wars era of the BattleTech universe. Players assume the role of Jason Youngblood, a young MechWarrior cadet whose training on Pacifica is interrupted by a Draconis Combine invasion. The adventure combines BattleMech training, party recruitment, character development, exploration, equipment management, and turn-based combat as Jason searches for allies and attempts to uncover a hidden Star League-era cache.

BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception helped establish BattleTech as a computer-game property in 1988, bringing the tabletop universe into a story-driven computer RPG before the arrival of MechWarrior in 1989. It also introduced Jason Youngblood and the Crescent Hawks, whose characters and history were later incorporated into broader official BattleTech lore. The game represents an early licensed project from Westwood Associates and an important starting point for the long-running line of BattleTech and MechWarrior computer games.

Collectors interested in BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception may also want to explore BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Revenge (1990), its direct sequel that shifted toward real-time tactical command; MechWarrior (1989), which emphasized cockpit-based BattleMech simulation and mercenary progression; Mines of Titan (1989), another science-fiction RPG developed by Westwood Associates and published by Infocom; MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat (1995), a defining later BattleMech simulation; and MechCommander (1998), which returned the franchise to squad-level tactical command.
