Constitution Signer Thomas Mifflin — 1793 Pennsylvania Land Patent to Henry:
$495.00

An original Commonwealth of Pennsylvania land patent dated May 19, 1793, signed by Governor Thomas Mifflin, a signer of the United States Constitution, and countersigned by Deputy Secretary James Trimble.

The patent grants Henry Drinker a tract called “Georges,” comprising 405 acres and 112 perches on the waters of Little Equinunk Creek in Northampton County. Its manuscript provisions trace the property through George Baker, referencing a July 1792 warrant and subsequent conveyance to Drinker.

Printed on vellum and completed by hand, the document features an elaborate Pennsylvania heading, the state coat of arms, and a large embossed state seal on a folded paper surround. Mifflin’s signature appears beneath the seal. The reverse carries contemporary docketing and a separate sealed enrollment certification signed by Matthew Irwin on May 20, 1795.

A tangible record of land acquisition in the early republic, connecting a Constitution signer with Philadelphia Quaker merchant Henry Drinker.

Condition: Age toning, scattered staining, pronounced folds and wrinkling, marginal tears and losses, and a substantial elongated loss along a vertical fold affecting several lines of text. Mifflin’s signature is light but visible; Trimble’s signature is bold. Both embossed seals survive, with wear and tears to the larger seal’s paper surround. Offered in its present condition.
