Digi-Comp 1 is a vintage 1960s mechanical digital computer designed and manufactured by E.S.R., Inc. of Montclair, New Jersey. It is made of plastic parts and metal rods and uses short tubes to implement programs. It still provides relevant learning of the binary number system, computer logic, Boolean algebra and machine level programming.
Digi-Comp 1 computers being sold at MostlyVintageTech, well over a half a century after their original purchase, will most certainly have some vintage parts missing (tubes, springs, front panel cards, etc.). To make these units fully complete, those missing parts have been recreated (equaling or exceeding the original vintage quantities). Any “recreated” parts are shown within “green” frames in the images in this posting. Any “repaired” parts will have “the repaired area of the part” framed or circled in “orange”.
The original vintage E.S.R. retail box is not included with any of the units. However, a manually recreated retail box is included based on one of the E.S.R retail box styles. Information on the recreated box is included in picture form in the included images. Also included are appropriately sized rubber bands - just for the fun of it.
Tariffs: A note will be attached to the outside of the shipping box indicating that the item being shipped is a vintage 1960s US manufactured educational toy (see the picture of this note). This “should” avoid a US customs tariff charge. However, I cannot say for sure what U.S. Customs and Border Protection will decide. If a customs tariff is applied, it could be 10%, but again, I cannot predict what U.S. Customs and Border Protection will decide.
