Here is a genuinely important piece of DC war-comic history. G.I. Combat issue 68 features “The Rock!”, an early Sgt. Rock prototype story by Robert Kanigher with artwork by legendary Sgt. Rock artist Joe Kubert.
This is an original 10¢ Silver Age issue from 1959, not a reprint. This is a well-read, low-grade original copy that has survived more than 65 years and remains complete:
• Cover attached
• Both staples attached
• Centerfold attached
• Complete interior
• Original 10¢ cover price
• No restoration known
• Raw/ungraded copy
There is expected age and handling wear, including creasing, spine and edge wear, corner wear, small tears/chips, staining/soiling and discoloration. Even accounting for that, this copy has excellent eye appeal for a low/mid grade example. The cover colors remain strong and the all-important “The Rock!” cover displays beautifully. Please examine all photos closely, as they are part of the condition description.
