Players serve as a Unitech commander directing genetically engineered BioDerm pilots linked to powerful HERC combat machines against the Cybrid threat. Missions range from resource-mining operations to assaults on enemy installations, while earned funds and promotions unlock increasingly advanced technology. HERCs can be extensively customized with armor, shields, support systems, and dozens of weapons, while BioDerm development adds a persistent personnel-management element to the campaign. Randomly generated scenarios expand replayability, and modem and network multiplayer allow human commanders to compete or cooperate across several battle formats.
