ABOUT MOORCROFT

Moorcroft is a distinguished British pottery manufacturer founded by William Moorcroft in 1897. The company quickly became renowned for its distinctive designs and high-quality craftsmanship. Moorcroft's unique approach to pottery involved hand-painted designs using a technique called tube-lining, where the outline of the design is applied to the pottery surface before the color is added. This method creates a raised effect that enhances the intricate patterns and vibrant colors typical of Moorcroft pieces.

From 1928 to 1949, Moorcroft pottery was marked with an impressed stamp and a facsimile signature, often accompanied by "Potter to HM Queen" at the bottom right, indicating the royal warrant granted by Queen Mary. This prestigious endorsement highlighted the exceptional quality and artistic value of Moorcroft's work. The company's legacy of excellence continues today, with Moorcroft pieces being highly sought after by collectors worldwide for their artistic beauty and historical questions are important to us, and we do try to answer all questions within a 24-hour time frame. Please take into consideration weekends, public holidays, and state time and country differences.
