Locality:Bulacan Region, Central Luzon, The Philippines
Age: Miocene – approximately 20 million years old.
Newto market and for the first time being offered on , are some spectacularand exotic cabochons of Philippine Fossil Coral. While exploring thePhilippines on many occasions I notices that many of the mountainous rejoins werepartially constructed of fossilized corals. This made sense as much of the landof the Philippines was created by volcanic activity over millions of years. SoI became obsessed with trying to find attractive, agatized corals of richcolors and clear patters. After searching for two years I finally found anabundant source near the town of Bulacan. Most of what I originally found weresomewhat dull and pale in colors, but I soon found out that the higher I wentup the mountains the richer and more vibrant colors and patterns appeared.
Agatizedfossil corals are prized by collectors for their unique combination ofpaleontological significance and lapidary beauty, with each specimen exhibitingdistinctive patterns formed millions of years ago.

Fossilcorals occur worldwide, mainly in areas of volcanic activity. When the coralsdied, volcanic eruptions buried them under ash. That ash provided the silicathat gradually replaced the original calcium carbonate skeleton through aprocess called permineralization — mineral-rich water percolated through thesediment, swapping organic material for stone while preserving the coral'sintricate structure. Iron and manganese in the volcanic ash are responsible forthe material's vivid coloring.
Fossilcoral is the preserved remains of ancient coral colonies, often replaced bychalcedony or agate over millions of years. Because it combines the symbolismof both ancient marine life and mineralization, many practitioners view it as astone of transformation, longevity, and connection between past and present.
Incrystal and metaphysical traditions, fossil coral is most commonly associatedwith the Root Chakra (Muladhara) because of its connection to the Earth, ancient life, stability, and grounding energy.
