🇺🇸 Original 1917 WWI Draft & War Department Documents – Indianapolis – Named Soldier
Rare collection of original World War I-era U.S. military and Selective Service documents from 1917, all belonging to the same individual, Edward C. of Indianapolis, Indiana. The centerpiece is an original “Notice of Call and to Appear for Physical Examination” issued by the Local Draft Board in Indianapolis following passage of the Selective Service Act during World War I.The collection includes the large 1917 physical examination/draft notice, Local Board classification card, original War Department correspondence/envelopes, and a handwritten military pass/permission document. The draft paperwork shows Serial No. 3325 and Order No. 248, making this an especially interesting group because the documents have remained together and can be traced to one individual. These are genuine pieces of American WWI history more than 100 years old and would make an excellent addition to a military, WWI, Indiana, Indianapolis, genealogy, or historical document collection.Condition: Original antique condition with expected age-related wear, folds, discoloration and edge wear.
