Luang Por Ngern was born on September 16, 1808 during the reign of King Rama I in Ban Bang Khlan, Tambon Bang Khlan, Amphoe Pho Thale, Phichit Province. He was born into a middle-class farming family. His father's name was Phum and his mother's name was Fak. After being ordained, Luang Por Ngern studied the Dharma and Vipassana meditation, as well as studying occult science and medical treatment from many teachers at that time. He was well known as a monk with beautiful conduct, compassion and strict practice of Dhamma.
After Luang Por Ngern went on a pilgrimage and studied Buddhism through Vipassana meditation, he returned to his hometown in Bang Khlan and began building Wat Bang Khlan as a center for spreading Dhamma and helping people in the area. Wat Bang Khlan thus became an important place of Buddhism in Phichit Province. Luang Por Ngern was a monk who was compassionate towards the general public. He helped treat patients using herbs and traditional medicine, which made him well-known and highly respected. He was also a consultant and advisor to local villagers in the area.
The sacred objects that Luang Por Ngern created were very popular, such as the first edition of Luang Por Ngern coins, which were coins stamped with his image. They have the virtues of invulnerability, safety, and loving-kindness.
In addition, there are other types of amulets and sacred objects that are sought after by amulet collectors and devotees throughout the country. He passed away on September 20, 1919 at the age of 111.
