This old newspaper is the Richmond Inquirer by Ritchie and Gooch - Richmond, Virginia, Saturday February 17th, 1821. Vol. XVIL … No. 92. Some of the articles are: The Missouri Subject - The population (of Augusta VA, Including number of whites, slaves, and free persons of color.) - Congress, in Senate and House of Representatives - Domestic, Washington (Missouri rejected to being admitted to the Union.) - States rights (Extract of the letter from a gentlemen from North Carolina.) - Foreign news and a list of property owners who owe taxes. Advertisements included Land and Negroes (Slaves) for sale, Also a $15 Reward for a field Negro man named Randolph who left from James City in October, and lists his previous owners and mentions his wife at Frazer’s Tavern in New Kent County. $20 Reward for a negro James “who is most likely he will attempt to go to a Mr. Cox, near Charlottesville, Virginia, where he has a wife. $100 for a negro man named Primus, if returned, but only $20 if he is apprehended and confined. Much of the paper is political in nature and deals with the Missouri issue. The paper is four sides and is in relatively good condition, the centerfold is mostly separated, the paper is a little brittle. An interesting old Virginia newspaper.Thanks for looking.
