Rare antique CIGARETTE CASE with EMBOSSED MR DANDY CARTOON CHARACTER (a dapper man reading his own Wanted notice) and the text \"Mr Dandy in New York\", plus the artist\'s name, TOTO; on the bottom it is stamped \"Dandy-Mate, Marquis, Japan\"; brass or copper, looks like copper. Inside, there was probably a mirror on the right side, or possible the same material as on the left. Mid-century, maybe the 1960\'s. Measures 3.5x2.5x1/2 inches.
I can\'t find another Mr Dandy case that looks like this, or any that refer to New York.
Condition: VG (tight hinge, some spotting, some heavy denting to lid - not hard denting but a lot of it - the front panel corners are lifting up a tiny bit; clasp and hinge work great).
(Vintage, Jewelry, Men\'s, Women\'s, Accessory, Tobacco, Box, Case, Made in Japan, 1960\'s, Memorabilia, Collectables)
