Rare Vintage 1979 Vandor Imports Pelzman Designs Wings & Stars Picture Frame
Description: This is a ceramic picture frame made by Pelzman Designs as part of their Wings & Stars collection. In 1979, Pelzman Designs studio partnered with Vandor Imports to create a collection of homewares with the Wings & Stars retro futuristic, Art Deco inspired pastel colored wings and star motif designs. Vandor Imports, founded in the 1950s, was a unique home decor, pop collectibles, and giftware store that often collaborated with independent artists and imported goods from overseas. Within the Wings & Stars collection there were mugs, salt & pepper shakers, teapots, plates, and coffee service sets like creamer and sugar bowls. These pieces were produced for a limited amount of time, making this collection highly sought after. From my research, I wasn’t able to find documentation or examples of the Wings & Stars photo frame while the mugs and plates from this collection are much easier to find.
Condition: Good. A few dings on the on the edges of the frame. Frame finish is glossy and intact. Please note that the backing slides around a bit, as it's only attached at the top and bottom and not the right side.
