This piece was used in the memorable 1st season 7th episode of Samurai Jack, Jack and the Three Blind Archers (aired August 20, 2001). Cartoon Network released very little original art from Samurai Jack and has ceased releasing new pieces. Since all the moving animation was colored by computer, no production cels exist. Only a few hundred painted Samurai Jack backgrounds were ever released.
Backgrounds in Samurai Jack were created by legendary background artists Scott Wills, who was also hired by Genndy Tartakovsky as the art director for Primal. Willsis known for being one of the pioneers of minimalism in cartoon animation. Charley Harper was his biggest influence.
