Day turns to night and weather patterns shift as players try to guide their ships safely from port to port. An advanced damage system shows dents and holes, and ships with irreparable damage below the water line will sink. A mission editor lets gamers create and share their own adventures, and multiplayer modes allow for free roaming, towing, and chat.
