Pasquale & Sons (San Francisco, Up for sale is a highly desirable, original late 19th / early 20th-century U.S. Army Pattern 1895 Enlisted Infantry Forage Cap.This distinctive piece of American military headgear bridges the gap between the Indian Wars kepi and the modern peaked dress cap. It features the classic dark blue wool body with its characteristic straight, round structure and flat-topped crown.The interior crown features a beautifully preserved, embossed silk manufacturer's label for "B. Pasquale & Sons / Military, Naval & Society Goods / SE Cor. Sutter & Grant Ave., San Francisco." B. Pasquale Co. was a premier West Coast military outfitter established in 1854, making this a fantastic Pacific Coast theater specimen.Stamped in gold foil below the maker's logo are clear patent dates ("PAT'D AUG 3, 1880", "DEC 20, 1881", "FEB 15, 1887").Pre-attached to the front is an authentic, period-correct stamped brass crossed-rifles infantry device featuring regimental number 70 and company letter D.Hardware & Trim: Retains its original black leather bound visor, black leather chin strap, and two-piece brass General Service eagle side buttons securing the strap.The dark blue wool body retains excellent color and structure. The black leather visor and chin strap show light, attractive age crazing/marbling but remain structurally sound and completely intact.The Interior Features a complete, rich reddish-brown leather sweatband and intact black polished lining fabric. The gold manufacturer logo stamp remains exceptionally crisp and readable.
