Maxamet Chemical Composition

• 2.15% ofCarbon:It improves hardness and wear/corrosion resistance, but a high amount of it decreases strength.

• 4.75% ofChromium:For tensile strength and Edge retention and enhances corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

• 0.3% ofManganese:Increases hardness and brittleness.

• 0.25% ofSilicon:Increases strength like Manganese.

• 0.07% ofSulfur:Increases machinability, and decreases strength.

• 6% ofVanadium:Improves wear resistance and hardenability.

• 13%Tungsten:Improves hardness and wear resistance.

• 6%Cobalt: boosts the individual effects of other components

Maxamet is very high in Vanadiumand Tungsten, which makes a tough alloy with excellent wear resistance. With ahardness above 65HRC, due to the high amount of Tungsten, Vanadium, and Carbon,the Maxamet steel knife has very high edge retention. When it comes to wearresistance Maxamet is excellent, due to the Tungsten, Vanadium, and Carbon.Maxamet is perfect if you’re looking for aknife with excellent edgeretention and very high wear resistance, Maxamet is a “Super steel” for yourknife,but it’s not a stainless steel, it has only 4% of chromium in it,so you must take the time to keep it clean.
