Strategic Air Command stood nuclear alert every day from 1946 to 1992. At its peak it controlled B-52 Stratofortresses, KC-135 tankers, B-1B Lancers, and Minuteman ICBM wings across bases from Offutt to Andersen, Loring to Ellsworth. The motto "Peace Is Our Profession" was enforced by crews who lived the alert cycle. SAC inactivated on June 1, 1992, replaced by Air Combat Command and US Strategic Command, but the shield has never lost its recognition.
This patch reproduces the classic SAC shield: sky-blue field, armored fist gripping three red lightning bolts, stylized clouds, yellow merrowed border, and the white scroll banner reading "Strategic Air Command" in bold blue. Measures 3 inches wide by 3.06 inches tall, fully embroidered, merrowed border, iron-on backing. Mounts in a shadow box, attaches to a vest or jacket, or rides on a range bag.
