Vintage 1908 Postcard The Shoots Electric Park Kansas City MO Amusement Water Ride
Grab a seat on the original thrill ride with this fantastic view of The Shoots at Electric Park in Kansas City Missouri. The colorful lithograph gives you a front row look at early twentieth century adrenaline junkies plunging down the massive wooden water slide while a sprawling white roller coaster looms in the background. Someone is even casually rowing a pink canoe in the splash pool just hoping they do not get completely soaked by the incoming boats. The card was mailed out of Kansas City in May of 1908 by a traveler who was eagerly waiting for their friends to arrive so they could catch a late night train down to Amarillo Texas. Physically the card shows a century of survival with typical corner rounding standard edge wear and some general age toning across the back but the amusement park view remains incredibly vibrant and highly displayable.

The Electric Park shown on this postcard actually holds a massive place in American pop culture history. A young Walt Disney grew up in Kansas City and frequently visited this exact amusement park as a child. He was so incredibly captivated by the train that ran around the perimeter and the nightly spectacular illumination of the buildings that he used Electric Park as one of his primary inspirations when designing the original Disneyland decades later.
