War of 1812 Draft Pay Document Revolutionary War New Hampshire Antique Sam Adams For Sale

An original 1815 dated manuscript pay order issued by the Town of Londonderry, NH for a soldier drafted during the war of 1812. The pay is for a Joseph Leach, who served as a sergeant at Portsmouth. He is potentially the same Joseph Leach who fought in the Revolutionary War in General Enoch Poor\'s Regiment. The order is signed by Selectmen\'s Clerk Samuel Adams.
The men were conscripted in 1814 as a response to a British blockade that threatened the entire East Coast, including Portsmouth, the site of America\'s first federal shipyard. The document is in a clear hand and is in Good shape. It is still supple, not brittle, and can be handled without fear. The writing is very legible and the signature is nice and bold.
A superb piece of American history and an upgrade to any collection. I ship every day the post office is open with your item safely packed the way it deserves to be. I always combine shipping and refund the excess back when you buy multiple items. Please see the rest of my store for more museum quality artifacts.
