Historic SignificanceThe 731st MP Company has a highly distinguished history. Activated in January 1991 for the Persian Gulf War (Operation Desert Shield/Storm), they were famously the only reserve component unit from the entire Asia-Pacific region deployed to the combat zone. Operating under harsh desert conditions in Saudi Arabia, the unit managed the processing of roughly 20,000 enemy prisoners of war over a four-month deployment before returning home to Guam on Mother's Day, May 10, 1991.
Other rare artifacts from this specific company are currently preserved in the Guam Museum.

• PW PROC: Stands for Prisoner of War Processing (or Prisoner of War Processing Detachment/Company), indicating a specialized or historical unit handling enemy prisoners of war.
