Amazing early example of the Stanley number 71 ! Maybe a prototype? The blade tightening mechanism is very crude and not a casting / shop made , with matching patina ! Very unusual with no adjusting wheel for blade height adjustment and the stalk in the casting is not machined for one , of course the plow shaped blade is a later replacement with the slot for the adjuster , I bought this on the show American pickers on the history channel along with many other tools listed
