Mercury-Redstone 4 mission, Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft, was the second crewed flight of Project Mercury, piloted by Astronaut Virgil “Gus” Grissom, launched on July 21, 1961, splashdown minutes later in the North Atlantic Ocean on July 21.
