W letter most correct for 1969 cars - but 1963 to 1967 cars could have been issued these as replacements or if the car was brought in to CA in the late 1960s.* You can use these all original paint 1963 through 1969 era black California plates that are guaranteed DMV CLEAR withall original paintand register them to any 1963 through 1969 foreign or domestic CAR or BRONCO/BLAZER (but NOT commercial/pickup trucks) today in the DMV\'s Year of Manufacture Program in CA.
Only invest in all original paint plates. Restored plates -never- look right. These show nice, with a good looking rear plate and the \"front\" plate (bottom one in photo) with some slight warbles on it but will still present and show very well.
To register these to your 1963 to 1969 car in California, you simply need a matching year tag/sticker showing on these plates to get approval in the DMV\'s Year of Manufacture program to the 1964 through 1969 year car you want to register these to. 1963 cars use these and apply in the YOM program as-is.
I have the 1964 through 1969 year tag you will need to apply for initial YOM approval for FREE - inquire with year you need. This will save you hunting one down for $35. (1963 car owners would simply run these as is with the \'63 stamp on them eliminating the need for any year sticker)
Be careful as many sets of plates out there being sold are nothing more than wall hangers. These are 100% verified DMV CLEAR and no longer showing in the CA DMV system.
Do not buy those \'new\' black legacy plates and run them on your 1963 to 1969 passenger car. Lame, and a waste of $80 a year. And your classic car or vw samba bus better not have white plates on it.
These only cost $10 a year to run/retain.
