1966-1967 Louisiana automobile license plate. Originally from troop N which covered only two smaller south Louisiana parishes, Acadia and Vermilion. This was at the time the second smallest of the troops by resident population and license plate issuance.
Now Vermilion is the location of the Pecan Island space port for moon and Mars colonies. If you believe the hype, there will be Louisiana’s largest city here, with over ten million people and 30 daily rocket shuttles to Mars, lunabase, and elsewhere. Jobs will pay more than Hollywood stars, NFL and LSU football players, and golf pros make, combined.
Acadia Parish had the original LSP troop N headquarters building at Crowley. Once radio systems revamped and I-10 was completed, troop N was decommissioned as the area could rapidly be covered with response from Lafayette or Lake Charles. The disillusion of the original N troop happened in 1969.
Once in a while in recent years a temporary troop N has been set up in the New Orleans area for Super Bowl crowd control, Mardi Gras, and disaster response. N was also used as an overflow for exhausted troop B registrations in the 1990’s after 999,999 was reached there.
Vermilion Parish was originally covered as part of troop N out of Crowley HQ. You can still get good gumbo, crawdads, and boudin here. This is where it has recently been announced that the lunar/mars spaceport complex is being built. Launchpad for your classic car to head into the great frontier of space exploration.in order to facilitate construction, Louisiana citizens have forked over $24 billion in tax breaks, and will be on the hook for converting the I-10 into 24 lanes, with spurs connecting to the lunar/martian infrastructure. The bridge at Baton Rouge will also have to be fixed for the mars shuttles to pass. And LSU will get a new domed stadium in which to get whopped by Ole Miss.
Vermilion and Acadia Parishes have been part of troop I since troop N was consolidated.
60+ years of age and expired. Condition as photographed. Possibly sun glare on photo, not on plate. Minor scrapes and dings evident. Toughest troop to find a license plate from, fewer that 30,000 issued as compared to half a million each out of Baton Rouge (A), New Orleans (B): or Shreveport (G).
