Original antique Atlantic City Beach Patrol Life Guard named badge engraved to Thos. J. Kerrigan.
This is an early Atlantic City service badge featuring a detailed New Jersey state seal design at center with engraved banner reading:

The reverse retains its original early pinback hardware with long pin stem, tube hinge, and open C-clasp. Attractive period construction and presentation throughout.
A scarce and desirable piece of Atlantic City, New Jersey beach patrol / lifeguard memorabilia likely produced around 1900.
With the help of the Atlantic City Free Library, Mr. Kerrigan has been identified through the Atlantic City Life Guards' Beneficial Association souvenir book (yearbook) dated 1918. Given the period construction of the piece and wear, it was possibly issued to Mr. Kerrigan 10-15 years prior to his appearance in the yearbook. The surface finish loss is consistent with many years of daily wear.

Antique used condition with visible age and handling wear consistent with daily use.
There is surface scratching, patina, oxidation, and finish loss consistent with age and authenticity. Pin assembly is present on the reverse. Please review all photos carefully for exact condition and details.
