Vintage Barco FSS Pulaski tool head made in the USA for U.S. Forest Service specification 5100-355D.
The head is clearly stamped “BARCO FSS 5100-355D USA.” Specification 5100-355D was the USDA Forest Service specification for the Pulaski tool and was superseded by revision 5100-355E in April 2000. This places the 5100-355D specification in the 1990s period.
A Pulaski combines a traditional axe cutting bit with a mattock/adze-style digging blade and is a purpose-built forestry and wildland firefighting hand tool.
This example retains a short section of the previous wooden handle in the eye. The old handle remnant can also be useful as a reference when fitting and hanging a replacement handle.
The steel has its original dark working finish with surface oxidation, light rust, scratches, edge wear, and other signs of field use. Both working ends remain substantially intact as shown.

CONDITION
Used vintage condition.
Head shows surface oxidation, light rust, scratches, finish wear, sharpening/use wear, and other age-related marks. BARCO FSS 5100-355D USA stamping remains clearly readable.
A short section of the original/previous wooden handle remains in the eye, which can be useful as a reference for matching the fit when rehanging the head.
No cracks in the steel head are apparent in the photos.
