Vintage Edgar “E.” Brandt (E. Brandt) Post-War La Tentation Art Deco Snake floor Lamp Sculpture.
Item appears in excellent antique condition. It is missing its lamp shade, wiring, an tongue. See photos for condition and other details. The mounting bolts in base may have been replaced since original manufacturing.
Appears to be a high quality, early (official post-war) French foundry reproduction of the iconic Brandt lamp. It appears silver in color on the exterior. It is not magnetic and the interior appears to show some bronze/copper coloring, including green tarnish (could not get it to show accurately in photos). It is quite heavy (46 lbs). There are no stamps on the exterior of the snake itself.
Inside the mouth is a threaded stud (did not photograph well) which appears intended to receive a tongue or shade mount (shade nor tongue were found with the estate).
The base has stamped words that appear to say: Fontenay 1924' Reedition BRANDT MADE in FRANCE on the rim and MADE IN FRANCE below it. There is also 'III' stamped near the chord hole that appears to be a foundry mark. There also appears to be faint hand written F and maybe a 4 or Y before the stamped Fontenay.
Measures about 62.5 inches tall and the base is about 12 inches. It is about 46 lbs.
