This cerussite specimen originates from the South Mine at Broken Hill, New South Wales, one of Australia’s most historically significant lead–silver mining districts. Collected during the early 1980s, this piece represents a documented one-off find from a period when occasional high-quality cerussite clusters were still being recovered from oxidised zones within the Broken Hill orebody.

The specimen features a well-developed cluster of cerussite crystals perched on their original matrix. The crystals display the characteristic adamantine to vitreous lustre typical of Broken Hill cerussite, with sharply defined crystal faces that catch the light effectively. The natural association with matrix enhances the specimen’s authenticity and provides clear geological context.

Measuring approximately 70 × 50 × 30 mm and weighing 148 grams, the specimen has strong cabinet presence while remaining easy to display. The crystal cluster is well balanced, with good exposure of individual crystals and minimal damage, suggesting careful recovery and preservation at the time of collection.
