GEORGE WILKINS (1856-1940)/1909 Photo Postcard from SHANDON, OHIO For Sale

This is an antique postcard featuring a gentleman by the name of George Wilkins (1856 - 1940), who was born in Ohio to Daniel Wilkins Jr. (1810 - 1888). This photograph, taken and printed by a professional photographer, dates to September 1909. According to the message written on the back, George Wilkins had actually had the photo taken and the postcard printed the previous day. This postcard is from the estate of a Nebraska woman whose maternal great-grandfather was a brother of George Wilkins. The scanned images show you a nice, but aged postcard that has been safely stored in dry conditions for a hundred years or so. Someone wrote George\'s name in the lower right-hand corner years ago, probably in fountain pen. It appears something else was written in the corner and then scratched off. At a much later time, the Nebraska relative wrote Ohio on the front of the postcard to designate that George was one of the Ohio relatives. This vintage postcard could wind up in the possession of a relative of George Wilkins, but it would fit just as nicely in an eclectic or research postcard collection.
