This 270g specimen displays a highly variable fluorescent response under ultraviolet light, with distinct zones of blue, green, and warm tones visible under 365nm (longwave UV). The fluorescence is uneven and layered, highlighting internal structure and mineral variation across the piece.
Under shortwave UV (254nm), response is an electric green, producing a deeper, more concentrated glow.
This piece also exhibits considerable phosphorescence, continuing to emit light after the UV source is removed—primarily from the matrix and select chalcedony-rich zones.
Material consists of natural chalcedony and opalized silica within a mineralized matrix, with fluorescence and phosphorescence driven by trace activators in the host material.
