This sale is for a pre-Columbian Chavin or Chimu culture blackware zoomorphic pouring vessel, typically used for ceremonial purposes.The main decoration is of a zoomorphic face on the front of the vessel. It is unclear to us what it is.There is a meander or Greek key repeating around the shoulder.There are a couple of small chips on the mouth.There are two objects stuck in the vessel, a small bell and a small stone it seems.I was unable to remove them.These vessels are typically dated from 700 to 200 B.C.Measures 6 1/2 inches tall x approx. 4 1/2 inches across.End.Thank you for stopping into our sale room today.Carazola Dancer
