Up for sale are these antique 19th century framed prints of Prince Achille Murat and Catherine Willis Gray. The Prince Murat print is of the second Prince, whose tenure was from 1815-1847. Also married to Catherine Willis Gray the Great Grand Neice to George Washington The glass in the frame is conservation glass. Framed print measures approximately 11.75” X 14.75”.
The first Prince Murat was given his title by his brother in law The Emperor Napoleon. He was the King of Naples from 1808-1815. Today there is a reining 8th Prince Murat. The picture of Catherine Willis Gray measures approximately 13.75” round and contains a calling card from the Prince.
Catherine Willis Gray was a socialite and great grandniece to George Washington. She raised significant sums of money for the acquisition and restoration of Mount Vernon. Frame appears to be in very good condition, the back of the frame was restored at one point by a framer, it is nice that the original frame is still intact!
