Please read description & check measurements before purchase 🙏A very rare fluorescent and tenebrescent Hackmanite cabochon from Afghanistan. Hackmanite is particularly uncommon in cabochon form, due to the difficulty in working the material. This hackmanite cabochon displays a rare tenebrescent effect - when left in darkness the stone is a pale grey colour, with a hint of lilac, and once exposed to sunlight or UV light transforms to a beautiful deep lavender purple. I love the bicolour effect displayed in this particular gem after exposure to UV! This cabochon also fluoresces a vibrant orange under pure UV light, and has a shimmering lustre with tiny rainbow sparkles. A very special, and utterly magical piece.
Hackmanite is a rare sulfur chloric sodium aluminum silicate member of the Sodalite family, and one of the very few minerals that displays tenebrescence (changes color when exposed to sunlight), as well as being UV reflective.
