Magic lantern slide from the POS of A fraternal lodge collection. The slide was produced in memoriam 10-years after Lincoln\'s assassination.

This antique magic lantern slide depicts the surrender of the British army to General Washington at Yorktown during the Revolutionary War. The image, captured in landscape orientation and in hand color, measures 3 1/4 x 4 inches and is made of glass. This is an original print produced by McAlister circa 1875, making it a vintage piece of history.

The Patriotic Order Sons of America is an American patriotic fraternal organization that traces its origins to the anti-alien riots of the 1840s. Founded in 1847 in Philadelphia,[1] the P.O.S. of A. once had \"camps\" (chapters) in well over 20 states. At its peak, there were more than 800 Camps in Pennsylvania alone. Today, the society maintains a presence only in Pennsylvania, where it has 14 camps. The national headquarters are in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.

This rare theme boldly Colored Magic Lantern Slide measures 4\" x 3.25\" and shows General George Washington at Yorktown, Virginia where the British are shown surrendering their swords and colors, thereby effectively ending the Revolutionary War.

Nice  colors and clean, unbroken paper borders. These were part of a rather lengthy \"Economic Series\" of Magic Lantern Slides produced by T.H. McAllister of New York. A great looking example.
