Offered for sale is an authentic, rare 1891 Civil War veteran commemorative theatrical publication titled "The Drummer Boy; Or, The Battle Field of Shiloh Official Programme." Published in Worcester, Massachusetts by the George H. Ward Post, No. 10, G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic), this program documents the fundraising theatrical run held at the New Worcester Theatre from January 12th through 15th, 1891.
The front cover features a striking blue-ink lithograph illustration of a Union Army uniform-clad drummer boy moving across the battlefield. The comprehensive internal pages contain the full multi-act synopsis, local veteran cast lists, an appeal to the citizens of Worcester from the G.A.R., and photographic portrait plates of iconic local Union heroes General George H. Ward and General Josiah Pickett. The publication acts as a thorough local business directory of the Gilded Age, packed with illustrated ads for Steinway Pianos, Macullar & Son Clothing, C. L. Gorham & Co., State Mutual Life Assurance, and the Clark-Sawyer Co.
Note on Condition: The booklet displays standard edge wear, corner rubbing, and typical paper browning along the page margins consistent with an authentic 1891 publication. The text and internal graphics remain fully legible and secure. Please review the high-resolution photographs to independently check the spine condition and page cleanliness.
