The front contains a printed agreement between Central Chevrolet Co. and an associate salesman, stating that the salesman would receive:
* $25.00 for each new car or truck sold and delivered to a prospect obtained by the salesman
* $10.00 for each used car or truck
The reverse is a United States 2¢ Benjamin Franklin Postal Card, with the printed postal indicium. The card is unused and has no handwriting or cancellation.
This is an interesting piece of Los Angeles automotive history and Chevrolet dealership ephemera, documenting how automobile salesmen were compensated for bringing in prospects during the mid-20th century.
The Central Chevrolet Co. is documented as operating in Los Angeles by at least 1940, when the company was involved in a California appellate court case. The 2¢ Franklin postal card design is consistent with U.S. postal stationery from the 1950s. Comparable unused 2¢ Franklin postal cards are commonly offered for only a few dollars, so the value here comes primarily from the Central Chevrolet/Los Angeles dealership imprint and unusual salesman compensation form, rather than the postal card itself.
