Vintage Hopi Buffalo Kachina Doll As Is - Authentic Hand Carved Cottonwood Root Mosairu Katsina - Native American Folk Art Southwestern Decor
This is an authentic vintage Hopi Mosairu, or Buffalo, Katsina doll hand-carved from traditional cottonwood root and hand-painted with polychrome pigments. Representing the revered Buffalo spirit of the American Southwest, this unsigned mid-century piece features distinctive side horns, rounded eyes, a detailed white manta robe, and decorated leg wrappings.
Please note that this historic doll is being sold strictly in as-is condition for rustic decorative use. The right side horn is broken and missing its top section, though the remaining horn is intact with its original yarn wrapping. Additionally, there is a prominent diagonal patch of surface paint loss and wood scraping across the chest and back, which clearly exposes the natural, fibrous texture of the authentic cottonwood root underneath. The doll remains structurally sound, stands firmly on its own, and retains a gorgeous, aged patina throughout the surviving paint work. Please review all photographs carefully to inspect the condition before making your purchase.
