Vintage Peterson's Kinsale Smooth XL20 P-Lip Estate Tobacco Pipe Ireland For Sale

Outside of the Sherlock Holmes collection, Peterson's Rathbone design is designated as the "XL20" shape. Named after renowned English actor Basil Rathbone, who played Sherlock Holmes in 14 films from 1939 to 1946, Peterson's Rathbone displays a memorable profile with its poised, towering bowl and curvaceous transition. This bent Billiard bears a striking resemblance to the swan-neck style of pipe that was often seen clenched between Rathbone's teeth in his Sherlock portrayals. This rendition also does an excellent job of maintaining the Irish marque's tubular shaping cues, making it a very practical shape for the hand, while also boasting a Stack-like depth to its chamber. It's presented here in the smooth, auburn finish of the Kinsale series, accented by trim, brass and nickel ring
